AXT Reports 2008 Results

AXT, Inc. (AXT), a US-based manufacturer of high-performance compound and single element semiconductor substrates, has reported revenues of $73.1 million for the year-end 2008, compared with the revenues of $58.2 million in the previous year-end. It has also reported a net loss of $689,000, or $0.03 loss per diluted share, for the year-end 2008, compared with the net income of $5.3 million, or $0.16 per diluted share, in the previous year-end.

Xelerated Provides X11 NPU To Alloptic’s Edge10 EPON System

Xelerated AB (Xelerated), a Sweden-based fabless semiconductor company, said that Alloptic, Inc. (Alloptic) has chosen the company’s X11 network processor unit (NPU) for deployment in its Edge10 EPON system. Based on company’s wirespeed dataflow architecture, the X11 is a high-function, low-cost processor that enables Alloptic to extend its access network portfolio into the next generation of GEPON and 10GEPON systems for network operators and enterprises.

AMD Uses Cadence Incisive Palladium II Accelerator/Emulator To Deliver Silicon For Complex ATI Radeon HD 4800

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (Cadence), a US based developer of electronic design automation (EDA) software and hardware, said that Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) has used its Cadence Incisive Palladium II accelerator/emulator. AMD has used this accelerator/emulator to deliver the working silicon for its complex ATI Radeon HD 4800 series graphics design produced in 2008. The ATI Radeon HD 4800 series includes over 800 million transistors.

ITC Holdings Reports 2008 Results

ITC Holdings Corp. (ITC Holdings), a US-based electricity transmission company, has reported operating revenues of $617.9 million for the year-end 2008, compared with the operating revenues of $426.2 million in the previous year-end. It has also reported a net income of $109.2 million, or $2.19 per diluted share, for the year-end 2008, compared with the net income of $73.3 million, or $1.68 per diluted share, in the previous year-end.

NINT And University Of Alberta Researchers Develop New Approach To Improve Plastic Solar Cell Performance

The researchers at Canada’s National Institute for Nanotechnology (NINT) and the University of Alberta have developed a new working model, Thienylsilane-Modified Indium Tin Oxide as an Anodic Interface in Polymer/Fullerene Solar Cells, to improve performance of plastic solar cells. After conducting research for two years, these researchers have observed around 30% of efficiency in this working model.

Energy Recovery Appoints New Board Member

Energy Recovery, Inc. (Energy Recovery), a US-based manufacturer of energy recovery devices utilized in water desalination industry, has appointed M. Elisabeth Pate-Cornell to the board of directors. Pate-Cornell is currently a professor and chairman of Stanford University's Department of Management Science and Engineering. Before leading the Management Science and Engineering School, she was assistant professor of Civil Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Avago Finance Reports Q1 Fiscal 2009 Results

Avago Technologies Finance Pte. Ltd. (Avago Finance), a Singapore-based manufacturer of analog semiconductor devices, has reported net revenues of $368 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2009, down 8.5%, compared with the net revenues of $402 million in the year-ago quarter. It has also reported a net income of $6 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2009, compared with the net income of $4 million in the year-ago quarter.

Power Integrations Introduces New Power Supply IC, LNK632DG

Power Integrations, Inc. (Power Integrations), a US-based manufacturer of high-voltage analog integrated circuits, has introduced new power supply IC, LNK632DG, to its LinkSwitch-II product family. The new IC is designed for applications with up to 3.1 W of output. The new device allows manufacturers to meet all energy-efficiency and no-load regulations for the low-power chargers and adapters, like ENERGY STAR EPS v2.0.

CMD Introduces New ESD Protection Devices, CM1235 And CM1236

California Micro Devices Corporation (CMD), a US-based supplier of application specific analog and mixed signal semiconductor products, has introduced new electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection devices, CM1235 and CM1236 to its XtremeESD family. These devices include new PicoGuard XS architecture that features integrated impedance matching with improved ESD performance. The CM1235 offers the same impedance matching and 8kV protection as the CM1233, but in a footprint that is 70% smaller.

ARC International Reports 2008 Results

ARC International plc (ARC International), a UK-based provider of consumer IP to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and semiconductor companies, has reported revenues of GBP17 million for the year-end 2008, up 18%, compared with the revenues of GBP14.4 million in the previous year-end. It has also reported net loss of GBP7.3 million, or 4.93 pence loss per share, for the year-end 2008, compared with the net loss of GBP2.5 million, or 1.69 pence loss per share, in the previous year-end.
