DTE Energy Appoints CCO
DTE Energy Company (DTE Energy) has appointed Anthony M Tocco as its chief compliance officer (CCO). In this role, Tocco is responsible for developing and implementing programs and processes to ensure compliance by DTE Energy and its subsidiaries with applicable laws and regulations. He has 19 years of compliance-related experience in the utility and energy industries. In 1989, Tocco joined the MCN Energy Group, the former parent company of DTE Energy subsidiary MichCon.

OPGI Issued Request For Expression Of Interest For Biomass Fuel For Coal-Fuelled Generating Stations
Ontario Power Generation Inc. (OPGI) has issued request for expression of interest for potential suppliers of biomass fuel and transportation services for development program to decide the viability of replacing coal with biomass at existing coal-fuelled generating stations. The call applies to both sustainable forest-based and non-food agricultural products and by-products.

Canfor Holds Back Upgradation Of Its Propane Plant
Canfor Corporation (Canfor) has held back its plan to convert the propane heating system to a biomass thermal fired system at their Radium Hot Springs mill because of financial crisis. The $15 million project was approved prior to the economic meltdown but the comapny will still be considering the capital expenditure in the future. The mill uses enough propane annually to heat about 2,000 homes. The project would take 10 months to be complete.

Mitsubishi Electric Develops New 638-Nanometer Wavelength Laser Diode, ML520G54
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (Mitsubishi Electric) has developed a new 638-nanometer wavelength laser diode, ML520G54. The new laser diode has an output power of 110 milliwatts in single lateral-mode operation, for use in palm-size mobile color-projectors and other display systems. This laser diode also achieves highest wall plug efficiency of 28%. Sample shipment will start on February 1, 2009.

Microchip Introduces New Stand-Alone Serial SRAM Devices
Microchip Technology Incorporated (Microchip) has introduced a new family of 8- and 32-Kbyte stand-alone serial SRAM devices, 23A640, 23K640, 23A256 and 23K256. The new devices increase system’s available RAM memory by adding small, inexpensive external devices. The serial SRAM devices also offer a simple, inexpensive way for designers to add more RAM to their application while keeping the same microcontroller (MCU), or even using a smaller one if replacing parallel external RAM with serial RAM.
